thrifty fabric
November 8th, 2008

Tell the great thrift store gods what you need and you will receive (sometimes). I said I needed more color in my life and shazzam! A bunch of bright, awesome prints in the bargain fabric bin at my local thrift store. A buck a piece, not bad seeing as the management likes to jack the price up whenever her little heart desires. Sometimes they’re $4 a piece, sometimes they’re tagged with outrageous prices, and it’s always the same shit. But I’m very happy with what I gots, now I just have to figure out what I’m going to do with it.

Bright it is, love it, especially the rainbow. My kid would love a dress made from that. Hear you on the jacking up of prices. My thrift usually has the 100% 70’s polyester stuff at like 6 bucks for a yard.

Hi Meg -
Great fabrics. I arrived at your blog via ‘While She Naps’ ‘cos I was intrigued by your comment about the kids not playing together. My boys are only just beginning to have real quality time toegther – aged 6 and 8! It really hurt how my eldest rejected his younger brother and I liked the fact that you and Abby were truthful about it. People always said to me how nice to have two boys – I bet they’re such good friends. I didn’t like to admit that they weren’t!
I’ll stop by again.

Great finds, Meg. You probably know this already, but just in case—-you do know you were featured in CRAFT magazine, right? Congrats!

cute fabrics! My thrift store almost always bags the fabrics, and puts 1 good pieces with a bunch of crap.

Your finds look beautiful together…and gifts from the thrift gods!
I love the piece with the purple, red, orange, etc. stripes. It reminds me of all those 80’s tops that are kind-of boxy where the stripes go horizontal across the top and arms and then either vertical or diagonal across the body. Rock on!

Ah, just taunt me with the red and white fabric, why don’t you… I have yet to find a thrift store selling any fabric around here.
