sideboard

February 27th, 2009

I have been waiting and waiting for a stylish sideboard to show up at the thrift store forever. We have a great thrift store for furniture (though they love to slap big ol’ price tags on everything) so I would stop in whenever I only had one baby to wrangle. Then yesterday there it was, finally. It was 40 bucks, not great, but not bad either. The top is scratched up, but it has doors for toys and drawers that my kids can’t work (I ran out of shelves my kids can’t reach).  It’s a little big for our little house, but dammit, I’ve been looking forever, so it will fit.

That looks really great! My MIL had given us a dresser similar to this a few years ago. I could kick myself now – I gave it back when we moved and ran out of room for it. It’s that danish-modern style that’s so in right now.

    $40 is a good price too. :)

That is a beautiful piece of furniture. It sounds like the thought of not buying it would have followed you for some time if you hadn’t made the decision. Sometimes you just have to do it!

What a great find and $40 isn’t too bad a price at all. I also need a sideboard for our house, but I haven’t had any luck finding one so far.

It’s beautiful. Those curved patterns at the side make it the most wonderful sideboard I’ve ever seen.

What a great find! I love how the handles match the swoopy design on the sides! It would even look great refinished… but I know that’s a heck of a lot of work.

Murphy’s oil with help to reduce the look of the scratches. It has done wonders on all my vintage wood findings. It also seems to brighten an old piece up even more.

Sorry I am quite the nerd. It is a great find! I love the design of the piece.

    I love it!
And it is a pretty good buy. My local op shop seems to have raised their prices to beyond ridiculous. It is a bit depressing really when youcant even afford the thift store furniture.
