creative assignment: egg

So on Monday, I gave out an assignment. I admit it was a little silly, but sometimes silly things can be good. I wasn’t sure if anyone would do it. But you did! And it was awesome:

1. sewn eggs by telforswife 2. doodle egg by tartarouchos 3. graphic egg (+ inspiration pic) by suchwildlove 4. free motion quilting egg by houseonhillroad 5. octagonal egg by feathersflights 6. quilted egg by jessica

Super cool, right? All so totally different. Mine is completely different too. I follow Ida Frosk on instagram and am always taken with her funny little food scenes. Brock Davis also does fantastic and inspiring things with food. So I though I’d use a real egg. So I took my inspiration photo (by Eva Maria) ….

…hard-boiled some eggs and grabbed some green things out of my fridge:

…and combined them to make My Little Green Egg Man:

What do you think? I thought he was delicious with a little salt.

What did you think about the creative assignment? Want more? Every week might be too much. Every other? Once a month? Should they be super quick 2-days-and-they’re-due or do you need a whole week? I really don’t know what I’m doing here, but I am having fun!

Haha, never thought my son would be the inspiration for dressing up a hard boiled egg! :-) So funny!

CLEVER disguise with GREEN veggies for a hard-boiled egg! Lots of creativity into making My Little Green Man, seen before & after eating! Pea pods, cucumber, lettuce mix, avocado & scallions . . . YUM YUM YUM with the protein of the egg . . . a nutritious snack. Let’s see more ideas every couple weeks. Thanks for this unique idea. Oh, this is wonderfully creative! I would definitely like more of these creative assignments. It would be nice to have a week to complete them, though. My four littles keep me hopping, and I usually need at least a couple of days to process a project in my brain before I can actually get anything done.

first, this really was the kick in the pants i needed to get making on monday so thank you! and i love that it was fast and achievable in a little amount of time. it also prompted me to do some sewing each day this week that is not “work” related – just 15 or 20 minutes of something for me. excellent! i don’t think that i would be able to commit more than an hour (at the VERY most) to doing something like this on a regular basis. i think speed is key – no overthinking! so, second, yes to more! and not too frequent – once a month? or every few weeks?

I think creative assignments are a great idea but I had no chance at completing mine in time. So just from my point of view I’d love a week plus to do them in.

    Great green man!

  8. oh, I hate handing in homework late! I still really want to do this!

I love this! However, I also would like a little more time to complete the assignment. How fun!

I missed the deadline for the Egg, though I’m doing it anyway, but PLEASE more assignments. Once a month would be great. Don’t give us too much time or we’ll all procrastinate (a week at most, I think). Thanks in advance!

I’d say once a month and one week to complete it :) Love your lil avo-egg man.

I was just thinking about this today and thinking we were due for a new assignment. I didn’t get to play along with the first one, but I’m already looking forward to the next.
