kcwc: a call out

pattern tracing sewing machine

You were expecting another lovely guest post, I know. Somehow I forgot to schedule someone for Tuesday and then double booked Wednesday. Oops! Actually this gives me the opportunity to ask you something. Last fall’s kcwc we had 360 participants and last spring there were 450 people sewing! This spring we are almost up to 300, but I know we can do better than that.

So I am calling on you to call out all the sewers out there!

Let’s make this kcwc bigger than ever. The more people there are sewing next week, the more people there are motivating you, the more you’ll get done!  Ok, go!

Done. Done. And done. See you next week!

I love this idea but my “kids” are now all teenagers and not interested in mom sewing for them any longer. Now my sewing is relegated to making over plaid golf pants into cool messenger style bags and the occasional pillow. :)

    • Oh, that makes me so sad to think my girls won’t want me to sew for them. I have a new baby, so I can probably sew for her a while, but I also have an almost nine-year-old (and two girls in between). Probably not too much longer sewing for my oldest, although she did demand a mama-made Easter dress this year. I was a little overwhelmed sewing four Easter dresses in a week, but now I’m grateful she asked (demanded).

I will *attempt* to participate… i will finally have the motivation to pull the darn machine out of the box.

One question though, any ideas/resources for sewing big boy clothes? All of the stuff I have seen on craft blogs centers around dresses for girls or stuff for boys in the baby or toddler range. I have a very active 7 year old and he ain’t gonna wear no rompers….

    Okay — I’m in!

  5. I’ve talked you up on my Blog! This will be my second time participating… can’t wait!

OK. you’ve convinced me. My efforts last time were really poor but I will try to do better this time around.

I’ve always wanted to do this since the start but I am a sporadic blogger (at best). Maybe I’ll just do the sewing and if the blogging happens, so be it. :)

I do hope you get more participants. I love to see what everyone is making. This spring I have many projects on the go but they aren’t really kids clothes.

  10. Alright, this seems like too much fun. I have a lot of projects going on, but I want to have some fun with this :) Horray!

I was actually quite surprised at how much stuff I made last year! This year should be interesting though, being preggo now!

  15. […] Truth is, I tend to work my best when I am inspired or excited about a project and I almost let elsie marely’s Kids Clothing Week Challenge go unacknowledged here for lack of a project […]
