homemade striped rainbow sheet

I’m going to sneak in a little rainbow before the end of the day. While I was tiding up my studio I came across a couple fitted sheets I cut out a long time ago but didn’t sew up. I ran this one through the serger and 10 minutes later I had a fitted sheet. My kids’ beds are funny sizes, so don’t think I’m crazy for making sheets, it’s kind of necessary.

We’re slowly changing up the kids’ room–see that little sneak peek up there? This weekend it will get painted, but I’ve been saying that for the last four weekends, so maybe not. Oh and now you know: there is a panda at the end of the rainbow or a white tiger, depending on which way you go. Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

My parents had those same rainbow sheets when I was growing up. It makes me so happy to see them. I hope yours are as soft and smooth and awesome as I remember ours being. This made my horrible day awesome, thanks!

What a lovely little bed to wake up in!

Are those vintage? Because they look just like the sheets I had when I was growing up–in fact, my mom bought two sets and made a comforter out of one–as well as a pillow sham. They were awesome…

Rainbow sheets: now on my thrift store hunting list! Can’t wait to see what you do to the room.

  8. Wow, what great sheets! And I love that a couple of commenters had similar ones growing up.

I am in the process of making crib sheets for baby number two – baby sheets are insanely expensive for the amount of fabric involved!

These are really fun. My son would love them. I think I feel a project for using up fabric coming on…

  10. I’m feeling a little left out, as I only had really boring sheets while I was growing up. I did have a rainbow hat, mind.

If you need any excuses for putting off the painting a bit longer, just ask – I’ve put off doing our painting for over 3 months now…

I had those sheets as a kids, too. My whole room was rainbow themed, and I’m sure they’re still im my parent’s linen closet. Or on the beds my kids use for sleepovers there!

Oh those sheets bring back memories! I went through a rainbow phase in high school. Rainbow sheets, comforter and window coverings – with red blinds!
