tiny treasures bag
June 2nd, 2009
I’ve been thinking about making another kind of bag for my shop and I came up with this one. It’s a little wonky, but it’s just a prototype so whatever. The bag is a lot smaller than my other ones (here a photo for scale) but I’m thinking it could be even smaller. I embroidered some details on the bag that I really like: a running stitch along the whole strap and a hand sewn buttonhole.
The button I wanted to use didn’t fit in my automatic buttonholer, so I had to do it by hand. I was going to do a hand bound buttonhole, but that just looked too complicated and too fancy for a kid bag, so I just used a blanket stitch to go around the buttonhole. Ta da!
I was thinking the bag could be for all those tiny treasures little ones find walking down the street. But “tiny treasures bag” is a little twee, so I need your help. Leave a comment with a better name for the bag and whoever comes up with the best one wins the bag. Sound good? Go.

oooh, I love naming things. How about “Extra Pocket”? Or “Collecting Bag”? Or “Cache Stasher”? Or just “Miniature Pouch”? Love the embroidery!

I’m partial to Treasure Hunter’s Bag.

hmm, how about the teeny tote? very cute!

Hmm, how about Pearl Pouch (as in pearl being treasure), Wonder Bag/Pouch/Pocket, or Bayo Bag (Bayo is an African girl’s name that means “happiness has been found)?
Cool idea!

Makes me think of Harriet the spy for some reason, so I’ll go with “Harriet bag” or “Spy bag” as my suggestions.
Although now that I type that, I realize Harriet’s notebook wouldn’t fit in the bag. Oh well!

Cute! The wonkiness just adds to the charm. :)

Itsy-bitsy bag? It’s darling, no matter what you name it.

I don’t think tiny treasures is too twee-maybe it’s just the alliteration? What about “small finds bag” instead?
The bag is darling.

how about “Stuart’s bag” as in Stuart Little, although you might have copyright issues. I agree, a wee bit smaller is perfect and the embroidery is great. Love that not quite denim slate.

How about “adventurer”…going down the street can be an adventure for little ones. Or “rocks and shells.” Say hi to Madison, I’m originally from there (saw it listed on your Etsy shop.)
Cute bag!

Great bag. How about petite purse.

How ’bout Pico bag? Picollino means very small in Italian. A little bag with an italian lesson too!

Love that lovely wee bag … can I throw “look luck bag” into the mix?

meg, i really love the hand-sewn button hole and the bag in general. my husband would call it the julie purse because i ALWAYS carry itty bitty little purses.
maybe you could call it a bitty bag? (sort of a play on a ditty bag)

Oh, that bag is just the right size for carrying secrets! I would call it the secrets bag or tiny secrets bag.
Love the detail on the buttonhole.
Cheers!

June 3rd, 2009 at 2:57 pm
oh by the way i heart the little bag!!!

This is so cute. How about “finders keeper” or “finds keeper” for a name?
June 3rd, 2009 at 4:37 pm
Knickknacks and thingamajigs bag
Stuff and whatnots bag
Things and finds bag
Fancy / fine / fantastic / fascinating finds bag
In my kids’ case ‘foul finds’ would probably be more descriptive of the things I find stuffed in their pockets, but that’s not such a flattering name for a sweet bag like that…

Is Dream Catcher too lame? I just think of all the pieces of twine and cool rocks I picked up as a kid that were kept becuase they were SPECIAL in some way… they were used as treasure and accessories for dolls and other games. Or kept from annoying litte brothers simply becuase you were bigger and could hide things better.

Mmm, ‘the little bag’ – as I am quite fond of naming my designs ‘the…something’

My Goody Bag…
I haven’t read the above comments so it may have been used already.
I love it…and know I would have to commission another one if I win this one…if not my girls would be fighting for this one!
Have a lovely day.
Char.

How about ‘Swag Bag’ for all the exciting swag picked up (and collected) over the course of a child’s outting? ~Heather
June 4th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
How about Hunter Gatherer Bag or Indy Bag (as in the perfect bag for your budding “archaeologist’s” special finds).
June 5th, 2009 at 7:03 am
How about ‘the Finder Keeper bag’… :)
My son thought the Wee wonders bag.. :) He loves to keep tiny stones, however they always end up in my vacum cleaner.
June 5th, 2009 at 9:53 am
what about naming it after something small?
i.e. pixie purse? or just ‘the mini’ ?
June 5th, 2009 at 10:36 am
how about ‘borrowers bag’ or some thing like that, as the borrowers were small and for some reason it made me think of that!!
xx

the “trinklet”
you know when you see those places with all the gnome statues and little treasures on the side of the road? our family started calling all of the collected things “trinklets”. it’s got a dainty feel to it just like your cute little purse!
June 5th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
oh – or the “pooka pouch”, for your shells and stuff.
June 5th, 2009 at 5:30 pm
cute!
i’ll throw out “wee wanderer”, but i love “finder’s keeper” too!
June 11th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
How about the Pita Pocket?
June 14th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
have you decided on a name for the bag?
