bells

The christmas bells are ringing! Download today’s coloring page here! I’m so happy that so many of you (and your littles) are enjoying these pages. And thank you for the lovely compliments on my (very) simple drawings. I’m far from being an artist, but I do like pretending I am, so all those kind words give me hope.

As always:

star

Happy Saint Lucia day! There is some sweet bread rising in the kitchen and we might make some crowns later today, then a little parade will probably be in order because I have a girl very proud to be the oldest. There are directions for making a lovely Santa Lucia crown here and there are star hats for the boys there as well! Hey, you could even print out mr. smiley star up there and paste him all over the little boy’s  hat.

I’ve been getting more and more long winded as these days of advent go by, but today is busy so I’ll skip the pithiness. Download these logs to color here, buy the advent calendar coloring book here, and show the world your art here.

If you’d like to see all the pages so far or just pass the link on you can now find them all in one place: the category for the advent calendar coloring pages.

cookies

Cookies! My favorite thing about christmas is always the cookies. I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t made a single christmas cookie yet, but these chocolate espresso ones are on deck (or in the freezer, whatever) and I have a gingerbread project in the works. In past years I have made (and loved) these fig pinwheels, these amazing spoon cookies, english toffee, gunpowder balls (but everyone has a different name for them), chocolate gingerbread cookies, surprisingly good earl grey tea cookies, prune rugelach (could a cookie sound more geriatric? don’t let that stop you -they are good), these pain in the ass, but so so awesome chestnut cream cookies, and I guess I could just go on and on, but I’m getting hungry. What cookies are you making this year? Feel free to put it off to tomorrow and just sit down and color with your kids today. Download the cookie page here (and buy the whole book here, if you like).
