kids clothes week spring 2011

April 14th, 2011

Spring is here and my kids have no clothes to wear. Well not really, but definitely not enough cute, springtime ones. KCWC to the rescue! If you have no idea what I’m talking about, that is completely understandable. KCWC stands for Kids Clothes Week Challenge. It’s one week (I’m sure you figured that out) where we commit to sew one hour a day for 7 days. Sewing clothes, of course, for our kids!  Or other people’s kids, but not your inner child and absolutely not your canine child.

Sound good? Want to make a big pile of little skirts and dresses and shorts and bow ties? Because a lot can happen in a week if you put in a little time each day. And with hundreds of people sewing along with you and cheering you on, well, you can’t help but make great stuff! So leave a comment on this post to tell me you are in! Then grab a button and post it on your blog (if you’ve got one) to spread the word. You can even head over to the elsiemarley flickr group to check out past KCWC and join so you can post for this one.

If you’d like to know a little more about KCWC, hop on over to the FAQ page. Then hop back here and sign up!

    Yay! Love KCW!

  2. I remember when you did this last year!! I’m doing a week long series next week (May 2) about creating a “Semi-Handmade” wardrobe for your kids……everyday I will be revealing 2-3 new looks. So, I guess I’m in, I’ve already got a lot of my sewing done, but there are still a few more projects in my pipe-line. Great idea :-)

I have a ton of projects that I have been putting off… I just needed some inspiration:) Thanks!

  11. Heather says:

I’m going to do it this time. Lauren really needs some pants. She refuses to wear jeans and only likes to wear leggings and yoga pants, so I am going to try and give her wardrobe a bit more variety—on the bottom anyway.

  12. Sarah says:

I had so much fun with this last year, making pants for my son, and I’m looking forward to making some fun stuff for his new baby sister, too! (Also, my sewing space is completely, unusably messy, and signing up for this will force me to clean it up…)

  13. Eve says:

I thought I commented before but I don’t see that I actually did so let me officially throw my hat in the ring again! I have been bookmarking and brainstorming and I just can’t wait! This is one of my favorite online challenges so thank you for inspiring me!

So this is in May 9-15? I think school should be winding down for me by then. I have some girls in desperate need of clothes. I bought some today and cringed at the cost thinking of all the fabric I have downstairs. This is going to be AWESOME!!!

  15. Kelly says:

I had to start blogging again just so I could participate ;) Everytime you’ve had a kid’s clothing challenge I’ve been moving or something. I’m so stoked I can do it this time!!

  16. Allison says:

Count me in! I’ve never actually sewn any clothes for my boys, so this will be a lot of fun :)

  17. Marina says:

Hi Meg, would love to participate again this year. I’d also love to be a sponsor but I have no idea how to make one of those little sponsor blog buttons??!! Anyway, let me know the details and perhaps I can work it out….
