it's a…
September 1st, 2009
boy!
He was 5 days late, 5 excruciating days, but now he’s here and part of the family. This second son of mine is modeling his “if I make it the baby will come” outfit that I made in that last week of pregnancy. I stole pants and hat idea from Made by Rae, because I literally could have no other thoughts that week besides, “it’s it time yet? now? now is going to happen?”The hat reverses to a pink stripe because we didn’t know if it was a little man or a little lady. The pants are from an old tank top that isĀ super lightweight because it’s August and should be hot, right? The Midwest has decided what the hell let’s have fall early this year.
The booties I actually started when I was in labor and finished up this past week. They’re from the same pattern I made for a friend’s baby and they are just so stinking cute. And now I have a whole Von Trapp matching family!

Congratulations! He’s adorable even if he isn’t punctual. Also, what’s the point of having kids if you can’t dress them all in coordinating handmade goodies?

I took the two older ones to visit the new one in the hospital. Big brother (2 1/2) crawled up on mom’s lap, petted the little one’s face, and said to his mom: “I love your new baby!”

De-lurking to say congratulations. A beautiful, beautiful baby — I hope you all can stay in bed all cuddled up and enjoy the cool wether. And (although I’m sure this is not particularly on your mind right now) that hexagon chair repair was so very cool I have been on the look out for a ripped leather chair ever since so I try it at home. Thank you!

a boy! yay! congrats!
love the end-of-pregnancy sewing frenzy. i self-medicated at the end of mine with large quantities of ice cream, but i suppose sewing is good too.
so happy for you!
September 2nd, 2009 at 9:07 am
Oh, what an adorable baby!
Love the outfit too.
The idea of “if I make it the baby will come” cracked me up. In the same spirit, I reupholstered all my dining chairs in the last week before giving birth. It didn’t bring the baby out as fast as I was hoping though.
Congratulations!
