giveaway
December 3rd, 2008
It’s giveaway day (thanks to sewmamasew) and I’m giving away this little people bag. It’s a drawstring bag made of muslin with vintage inspired little people appliqued on the front. Tell a joke, tell me what you ate for breakfast, ramble on and on, whatever, just leave a comment if you’d like to win the bag. There are a ton of blogs giving away all kinds of stuff today, so go forth into the internet and win all your christmas presents.
*edited to add: the drawing will end at 8am central time tomorrow december 4th.
THE CONTEST HAS ENDED, BUT STICK AROUND THERE’S LOTS TO SEE HERE.

December 3rd, 2008 at 10:17 am
See this is what happens when you have no limits or guidelines…you don’t know what to do! Post about ANYTHING?! Argh, so many options I fear my head will burst! So, I’ll just write a list:
1) The bag and your site are beautiful and fun
2) Tonight my fiance are having a NYC night so I have to buy cheesecake on my way home from work (there are worse chores to have!)
3) Tonight I’ll be doing what seems like an endless production line of invite making for my wedding
4) I haven’t started my Christmas shopping yet and it’s starting to worry me
5) I want a big mug of hot chocolate.
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:17 am
I love reading your blog to see what you’ve created next. Thanks for the chance to win!
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:18 am
Oh, little people! I just packed up all my circa 1975 little people from my mom’s house, which my sisters’ kids (now 20 15 and 9) all played with, too for my 5 month old son to play with when he’s old enough to know now to swallow them. My favorite: the little black and white dog with the yellow collar. Can’t wait to see him again.
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:29 am
That bag is just delightful! Do you really want to know what I ate for breakfast? It was a piece of ‘malt loaf’ with the usual cup of tea! Have a great day.
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:36 am
This is too cute!
Let’s see…what did I have for breakfast? Grits and eggs-did you guess I’m from the deep south (gulf coast of Alabama)
I also love your Advent calendar. What a great idea. I might just have to copy that.
Blessings!
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:40 am
This bag is adorable! I had soup for breakfast – homemade turkey ramen, thanks to the thanksgiving turkey carcass :)
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:56 am
This bag is so cute. What a great contest!
Thank you :)
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:57 am
That is the cutest gosh darn thing ever. I’m preggo, so this morning i had granola, which I then expelled. I haven’t wanted to eat anything since, until misscrafty mentioned cocoa, and now i simply cannot rest until i have some.
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:59 am
My big plans for the day involve making a pom pom wreath and going to Sears for duster bags. There ya go. Random bits about me. :)
Love that bag. You are very talented.
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:01 am
I just had an egg mcmuffin for breakfast. They’re only $1 now! hooray! {not that I need them, but every once in awhile it’s fabulous to have a treat like that}
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:02 am
I’m watching 2 kids under 2 and attempting to sew and clean. Yeah, not so much.
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:08 am
My daughter would love this for her little people. My plans only involve cleaning :(
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:08 am
I love this little bag, as I love all the stuff you create. We have many collections of animals, lego people, little people, etc. that always need a cool new home. Thanks for the give-away. cheers
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:11 am
I love the bag. I am eating toast with cherry jam as we speak, and sipping a mocha coldpress, which I made here at home. I drink coldpress every morning, and it helps me get through the day. ha.
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:13 am
OH, how I wish I still had all my little people play sets, they were much loved! Unfortunately having three little brothers play with them didn’t leave much for my Mama to save.
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:13 am
Hmm, let’s see….well, for breakfast I ate leftover veggie rice from last night. Pretty classy, huh? I’m not a big breakfast person. Anyway, that’s my randomness for ya! The bag is adorable!!!
Thanks, and Happy Holidays!
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:16 am
I love this bag. It would be a real surprize to win it since I think the only thing I have won is a car air freshener at a candle party I got roped into going to.
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:19 am
I love your little bag…. I been busy today sewing a felted christmas stocking project…. am expecting my first baby, due tomorrow!
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:19 am
Oh how lovely your creations are. I love seeing the things you come up with. For breakfast this morning I made a pop can of cinnamon rolls. The joke comes from my 5 year old. She just turned five and has yet to understand what the true form of a joke. It is still funny to see her, my 4 yr old son and my youngest daughter who is two roll around laughing at them. Here goes: “Knock Knock…Gine…Gine that didn’t say who was the very best one..” See I told you nonsense but cute. I hope you have a lovely day thank you for giving us all the chance to win. :)
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:22 am
A bag to hold some of my kids’ many, many small toy collections? SO needed. And it’s the cutest bag I’ve ever seen!
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:36 am
I love this bag! I could see it used to hold the farm animals my 2yr old son is getting for Christmas.
Today I’m exhausted from too many sleepless nights with a newborn and too many long busy days with a 2 year old. I’m just hanging on till nap time…
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:43 am
love the little people, and not the new plastic ones, but the old wood ones with their round, round heads….
Breakfast was a super big mug of english breakfast tea with leftover real cream from the thanksgiving pumpkin pie and a sliver of a chocolate-pecan bar I made up with 3 sticks of butter… it’s the holidays, right?
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:44 am
This bag is so sweet. I’d love to win it for my little guy and his little people.
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:48 am
Oh, how I love little people. I have recurring nightmares that I go thrifting and see all sorts of sets but someone always gets to them before I can. The only thing that matches their sweetness is your little people bags. I just love them to bits.
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:49 am
The bag is great! It would be perfect to hold the building blocks I bought my daughter for Christmas! Thanks for the chance to win!
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:54 am

December 3rd, 2008 at 11:57 am
That bag is super cute! I always enjoy your blog and what you are making.
This morning for breakfast I reheated some squash fritters from last night, but forgot to put them on a tray and set the toaster on fire! At least it was exciting and there was no harm done, really…
December 3rd, 2008 at 12:00 pm
I need that to wrap something I am going to make my little man for Christmas! It’s too adorable.
December 3rd, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Love the bag, it reminds me of the playskool people I used to play with. Please enter me!
December 3rd, 2008 at 12:10 pm
Ack – so adorable! I wish I had a bunch of little people for my kiddos. They love that kind of stuff. Hmm, maybe I should keep my eyes open at the thrift shops, I’m usually so focused on the linens I don’t even think to look at the toys.
December 3rd, 2008 at 12:12 pm
Oh, so cute! That would be an excellent place to store all the little dollhouse pieces!
And breakfast? Dang, so far I’d forgotten all about my breakfast–plain yogurt with cherry-almond granola. I eat the same thing every day…
December 3rd, 2008 at 12:17 pm
So cute! My daughter loves the old little people house and figures we’ve got. She puts the dog in the car and says “bye, bye, bye, bye”, then she crams as many people as she can into the playpen. Too funny!
Thanks for the giveaway and happy holidays! :)
December 3rd, 2008 at 12:22 pm
Oh my grandkids would squeal with excitement. Thanks!
December 3rd, 2008 at 12:22 pm

Hi from Cyprus- just to let you know that the weather here today has been gorgeous- we had lunch on the balcony, watched a beautiful sunset and saw Venus and Jupiter before they disappeared below the horizon. We went down to the boat but still can’t find our tree decorations- don’t suppose you have seen them???!?!
December 3rd, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Hmm. I feel that this bag and I are meant to be. That it is destined for greatness, and I will be but one small part in its journey.

December 3rd, 2008 at 2:59 pm
That’s so nice you’re participating in the giveaway day! I actually commented on your thanksgiving oranges earlier today and already bought the “ingredients” to make those Christmas oranges myself! Since I’m Swedish it’ll say God Jul so much shorter and with fewer oranges than yours but I’m thinking quality, not quantity anyway… ;)
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:00 pm
I want this!! So cute!
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:02 pm
I think your little bag is so cute! I think I still have some of those little people from when I was a kid. I’m almost positive that my mom made a holder for them out of the leg of a pair of jeans. Which, at the time, I’m sure was just the coolest thing ever! LOL
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:08 pm
Lovely bag!
My random bit for you is the most random Christmas gift I ever got…a rape alarm…from my grandparents(!).
It’s nice to know they care.
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:08 pm
I saw a cute drawstring bag this morning on garnet hill and thought “I could make that.” Looks like you beat me to it…
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:09 pm
I love what you do. Really. Do you really want to know what I had for breakfast? All right. Same thing as every day: oatmeal, a little bit of butter, a little bit of cream, a little bit of maple syrup and a goodly amount of blueberries (from the freezer) on top. It’s a good rut to be in.
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Hi, I had selfmade Polvorones for breakfast, not very healthy but I could not wait any longer to try them.
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:12 pm

Cute! This is one of the few giveaway sites I found on my own since I have you in my Google reader. And I love your Advent calendar by the way. Thanks for the giveaway…

What kind of bee makes milk?
Answer: A booby
:)
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:28 pm
oooh, i’d love to win that bag, i’ve always loved those. here’s a joke, keep reading for a good laugh. stop if you don’t think it’s funny to tease babies.
A woman gets on a bus with her baby. The bus driver says: “That’s the ugliest baby that I’ve ever seen. Ugh!” The woman goes to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. She says to a man next to her: “The driver just insulted me!”
The man says: “You go right up there and tell him off – go ahead, I’ll hold your monkey for you.”
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:29 pm
My 2 year old says… “Knock knock knock Mama!”
I say “Who’s there?”
She says “Peanut budder!” then laughs and laughs and laughs. To her, it’s the best joke ever.
Love the blue hair and the orange gingham! Pick me, pick me!
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:34 pm
The bag is adorable, love love love it!
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Jokes=not my thing (I always forget the punchlines).
So, onto randomness: I’m eating a bowl of homemade tomato soup with cheddar and floating croutons while my toddler sleeps the sound sleep of a sick child… ~H
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:46 pm
I tried to leave this morning to take my son to Kindermusik. Roads had snow on them- turns out under the snow was a very thick later of ICE. Managed to get 2 blocks, car just slid in a circle and stopped facing the wrong way against the curb (could have been worse- I paid attention to the “winter driving” tips) and at least kept some control instead of sliding into oncoming traffic. So now I’m stuck- with my 2 year old in the back seat (not a big help there…). Finally a guy stops and helps me back the car around the corner (pushing from the front in the right direction while I back around) until I can get traction. Thank you so much for your help! I turned around in a driveway and went home- on the other street. No kindermusik today…
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:51 pm
That bag is adorable. My daughter love playing with the little people. She likes to use them as finger puppets. My fingers are too big.
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:51 pm
What a cute bag – why is it that I never came up with that idea? Because I KNOW I’m the queen of all good ideas, right? I’ve got you bookmarked now :)
Let’s see, I had some sweet tea (iced of course, I live in South Georgia)and a medifast chocolate mint bar for breakfast. Breakfast of champions.
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:53 pm
This is so unbelieveably cute! I would love to win it and give it to my nephew to carry toys in!
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:54 pm
A little boy in my preschool class told me this joke today:
Why did the potato cross the road?
.

So he didn’t get MASHED! :o)

December 3rd, 2008 at 3:57 pm
You are incredible. . . I’m bad at jokes, too, but on randomness, I’ll be chatting with a college girlfriend I haven’t talked with in over ten years in three minutes. The lovely internet can connect almost anybody.
December 3rd, 2008 at 4:01 pm
So here are a couple of my 5 year old twins’ favourite jokes…
What did the zero say to the eight?
… nice belt.
and
What did one snowman say to the other?
… do you smell carrots?
Love the drawstring bag – so cool!
A.

December 3rd, 2008 at 4:06 pm
This bag is so adorable–really. My two toddlers would love a new bag to tote their umpteen little knick-knacks around in.
Can I just mention that I am on my second cup of cocoa and it’s lunchtime? Feeling a bit guilty here! But cocoa and giveaway-surfing just go so well together. :)
December 3rd, 2008 at 4:08 pm
I love that bag! Right now I’m playing legos with my 3 yr old and surfing the web for Christmas decoration ideas.
December 3rd, 2008 at 4:08 pm
I was obsessed with little people when I was young. I played with them for a very long time (much longer than most young people I’m sure). This bag would look great with my knitting in it.
December 3rd, 2008 at 4:11 pm
What an adorable bag. My daughter (who’s home from KG and blog-hopping with me) says “Nowadays Little People have hair and they’re fatter.” Just an FYI for us old folks. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

I have all of my little people from the 1970s (MUCH better than the new version, in my opinion). This bag would be perfect for them…much better than the Tupperware bowl they live in now. Thanks for the chance to win!
December 3rd, 2008 at 5:08 pm
SUPER CUTE! I love the little people – I wish I had some for my kids – but wait – they don’t make them any more b/c they’re choking hazards, right? hm, well, at least I have the memories!

Cute bag! I’ve recently been reminded of a Kenner Treehouse toy that was around in my kiddie days, kind of like little people. I think it was my cousin that had one and I remember always wanting one for myself! Was that ramble enough??
December 3rd, 2008 at 5:39 pm
Ze bag is fantasteek! Um, for breakfast this morning, I had a bowl of pineapple chunks and two huge cups of coffee, courtesy staying up most of the night with the baby. Oh erg.

My (then 5 yo) boy came home from school with this gag a few years back and it my BEST ever -
‘knock, knock’
‘who’s there?’
‘interrupting duck’
‘interrupting du…’
‘QUACK!’
While I am not convinced it works in the written form it STILL creases me up!
December 3rd, 2008 at 6:05 pm
Today I tried to wet felt some balls with my 2 & 4 yo gals. Sadly they didn’t turn out and now I have to clean up and set the table for dinner. I am going to attempt it later tonight.
December 3rd, 2008 at 6:06 pm
Please enter me! Thanks!!!
December 3rd, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Very cute! I want to do more appliqué work, myself. I’m giving away bags on my blog too.
Hmm, let’s see…I had eggs and toast before I left for work this morning. And shortly after I arrived at work I started eating Hershey’s kisses and drinking my iced coffee.
December 3rd, 2008 at 6:09 pm

what a great home for our little people!
December 3rd, 2008 at 6:35 pm
I ate apple juice for breakfast as I have braces and they were just tightened and it kills to eat anything. Why did I want braces in my late 20’s I am asking myself, oh well.
December 3rd, 2008 at 6:48 pm
I remember playing with little people when I was young :0) Oh gosh I am so not young anymore :0( Pick me Pick me!!

What a cute bag!
I wish I could think of an interesting comment – I’ve spent most of the day studying and my brain has kind of given up.
December 3rd, 2008 at 7:03 pm
Usually I am pretty good at rambling, but maybe not so much today, let’s see…. well my most current project is a quilt design I got from Quiltville.com, she had it in scraps with a white background and I am making it with scraps and a black background. This is my first time machine sewing, and it’s going relatively well. I won’t be winning a contest with it, but it will keep us warm!!
Thanks for the chance to win, this is way too adorable!!

December 3rd, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Well, I’ll tell you about my day. I met with my future daughter in law for a formal dress fitting. DD is going to be a Jr. Bridesmaid. It’s going to take lots of alterations…she’s tiny and a size 0 is too big! It was rather interesting….BUT lots of fun.
December 3rd, 2008 at 7:13 pm
I ate a delicious kolache for breakfast. Love the bag.
December 3rd, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Lovely bag. My son just received a vintage Playskool school bus full of little people for his third birthday. Alas, my 7-mo-old daughter thinks they are great for chewing, and I fear they are too chokable! Maybe they could hibernate in your lovely bag for a few months if I win. :) Tee hee!
December 3rd, 2008 at 7:16 pm

December 3rd, 2008 at 7:22 pm
I ripped my favorite skirt on a hand rail (it hooked onto it at the top) when going down some stairs today!
And my internet connection keeps going out… AND my assistant quit today… it was a tragic day today. Hope yours was better. LOL.
:(
Thank you for including me into your give away
Happy Holidays!

December 3rd, 2008 at 7:39 pm
I’d like soooo much to win your great giveaway, this bag is simply delightful and it should be a perfect gift for my birthday (yes, yes, it’s tomorrow, 4th of december! :o)…)…so I’ll keep my fingers crossed, goodness knows if Fortune will smile on me! ;o)
A big hug from Italy and thanks again so much for this chance!
Oh, and for my breakfast I like to have only sweet things to eat, it’s the best way to start a new day! :o)
December 3rd, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Okay, I NEED this bag. I swear the little people are breeding under my daughters bed. I mean each night we pack them away and in the morning there are MORE! I tell you little people are worse than rabbits, I am surprised my daughter doesnt wake up screaming each night, as they must be making a lot of noise enjoying themselves under there. Or perhaps they are doing quietly, who knows! All I do know is that I want to bundle them all up and store them in this bag, I will also do a head count each morning to keep a better tab on population statistics of these little plastic breeders. So you can see that this bag would be very helpful to me.
I hope I win.
Thanks for the fun giveaway.
December 3rd, 2008 at 7:46 pm
LOVE the bag! Plus, I’m craving twizzlers. Hows that for random? :) Thanks for the giveaway!

Oh my, I love the bag! My neighbor (also 27 years old) has quite a collection…what a perfect Christmas gift. She is a superb cook, kind-hearted-kid-at-heart soul, and makes her own deodorant! I’d love to win this giveaway.
December 3rd, 2008 at 7:53 pm

i’m the weiner!
December 3rd, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Love the bag!! They just don’t make Little People like they used to. Hmmm…. breakfast .. well … I sort of “hid” the last piece of pumkin cheesecake from my dear hubby and savored every last morsel of it while hiding in the pantry from my kids. I refused to share and what kind of mom would I be to give them cheesecake for breakfast??
December 3rd, 2008 at 8:25 pm
I had oatmeal for breakfast…takes the chill off :)
Love the bag!

December 3rd, 2008 at 9:08 pm

I actually played with some vintage little people at work (I’m a nanny) today. Did you have the one little red head boy with freckles who looks really grumpy?
I hope I win!
December 3rd, 2008 at 9:50 pm
I love that bag! So cute. My boys are too old for it now, but I know someone who would just love it.
Well, I had low-fat, low-sugar (have to make it sound better) apple crisp for breakfast — that is probably my favourite food!
Thanks for the chance to enter your draw.

Why have I not discovered your delightful blog earlier! I shall return again and again to visit! Love the bag – please let me win it!
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:06 pm
oh, my beloved little people will now have a home! funny story…most of the ones our daughter played with (saved from my hubby’s own childhood) are now faceless. when she was teething (4 mos, no less!) she sucked their painted faces off in a week. we hadn’t realized it until one day, i kept turning the dogs face around to make him bark and bite his owner & voila, no face! so, i really hope the paint was up to code back in the 80s b/c it is now a part of Ava’s biological being. i digress! i love the idea of a bag for them and the appliques would match perfectly with a lack of any facial features! I LOVE IT! I do hope to win…and if not, do you have a pattern for the little silhouettes? too stinkin’ cute! best wishes!

What a precious bag. You do lovely, lovely work. And your advent calendar!!! Breakfast was 2 big cups of coffee with super rich cream and a barely ripe banana. Not fancy, but super tasty!
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:09 pm
o! the little peeps! my husband and his mom called those little peeps “pea podges.” when my hubby was a boy.
here’s joke, too:
what did the hat say to the hat rack?
you stand here, i’m goin’ on a head!
pick me!
: )
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:16 pm
what do you call a fairy that doesn’t take a bath?
stinker bell
that is my daughter’s favorite joke, as for breakfast I ate a bite of my daughter’s toast.
Love the bag.

That is so cute. I made “fronch” toast for breakfast
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:42 pm
OMG! Okay to keep it short and simple…I love the bag. One look and all I could think of was a place to ‘try’ to keep our oldest daughters little people from running amok about the house, down the back of the sleeper sofa and whatever other creative play places they get lost at. Great job!
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:48 pm
My little one loves the little people (and I just realized that using the word “the” in there makes it sounds like my toddler has a dwarf fixation…).
Very cute (um, your bag that is… and dwarves too).
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:49 pm
Too cute! I love this bag! And my kids toys would surely thank you — they’d have a home!
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:53 pm
Oh, I collect vintage little people. My favorite is the Jeep with the camper and boat. I would love to get the old A Frame House someday, but I have time and not enough room :)
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:53 pm
We need this in our house! My son makes up names for most of his little people… some names he uses over and over, including: “Big” (which cracks me up since they are so little), “Fikark” (your guess is as good as mine) and “Tiki” (as in Barber). :) Happy Holidays!
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:02 pm

Hope to win :S
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:48 pm
Just got back from my daughter’s school holiday concert. I should be going to sleep, but instead I am awake, looking at blogs and posting about all the adorable stuff!!! Love the bag!
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:49 pm
Confession: I’m reading your blog when I really should be….
a. sleeping
b. sewing my many Christmas presents
c. doing laundry
d. all of the above
Of course the answer is d, but I love your bag more than any of those things.
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:52 pm
I cupped my hands and let my child throw up into them for lack of a bucket today. Surely that qualifies me for *something* right? At least a button for Mother of the year?
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Oooh! Awesome bag! I didn’t have anything for breakfast (bad me, I know) but my husband just made a stuffed crust pizza for a midnight snack and I’m planning to have a couple pieces of that. mmmm
December 4th, 2008 at 12:00 am
How cute!
Ok, here’s a joke:
A note for all of our criminal friends: if you are being chased by a police dog, try and avoid crawling through a narrow tunnel, running over a see-saw, then jumping through a ring of fire. They’re trained for that.
See what happens when you ask me for a joke off the top of my head? Oh, and I had chocolate for breakfast. Again.
