carrot cake cookies

May 4th, 2009

We had a really lovely weekend. I pretended to know what I was doing in the garden while my kids made mud pies and my husband mowed the lawn. It doesn’t get more suburban than that. And it was awesome. We ate every meal outside, including these ridiculously awesome carrot cake cookies. The recipe says they make 18, but I only got a dozen, so double it because they are super delicious: not too sweet, but not too healthy either and small enough to eat too many without realizing it. And just the cure for when all your decorating decisions get totally panned (in the comments) on a popular website–who knew rug placement was such a hot button issue?

we must be cooking kindred spirits. First, I served the tangelo ice cream (such a hit!) and I made these, too about a month ago the second I found the recipe after buying a 10# bag of organic carrots…yours look so much better. I used traditional cc frosting, which was a little too sweet. Happy cooking!

oh, I also wanted to say “thank you” for your “links” organization. It’s the first I’ve seen of this rather than a blog roll and it is great!

  3. oh geez. everyone’s got an (ahem, UNSOLICITED) opinion…

by the way, is that an unsustainable lead-harboring plastic easter egg (a.k.a. choking hazard) under the table? tsk, tsk.

    (eyeroll.)

Just wanted to drop a note and tell you how much I enjoy your blog. Different rugs and all! :) I tried the cookies, thanks for the link, and they were amazing. I love the dress from the next post, I think I know what I’m doing this weekend. :)

Oh dear, just read the AT comments, and must say had bit of a giggle. Couldn’t help it. How can you sleep at night? You certainly seem like the kind of girl that wouldn’t let that kind of thing get in the way of a happy day…..but it does raise a few (perhaps major) issues about provenance of content, doesn’t it……..hmmnnn. Not sure if I’d be very happy about someone taking my work/home/ideas and ripping them to shreds. Anyway, your blog is a delight to read, and your work is just gorgeous. You have a really special quality about you.

Oh geez, don’t get me started about AT commenters. They’ve used my images before, they asked two times, but not the third. I think I will decline if they ever ask again. There were 48 snarky comments about a photo of my bookcases filled with white/neutral colored books. 48 people took the time (actually, there were a few nice comments, but mostly not) to share their opinion on bookcases. Lame! Sorry you had to go through that. It looks like they took the comments down now.

On a happier note, those cookies look so good. I love carrot cake and I love cookies, so that looks like a winner!

o m g . . . what a bunch of neurotic bi-atches. I think the rug idea is genius! When I saw that post for the first time I was just jealous I hadn’t thought of it myself. Note to self: if ever have really awesome decor idea, do not submit to AT. (:
