belt giveaway *giveaway closed*
February 18th, 2010
Wow! There has been such an amazing response to the boy belt tutorial! I think there must be a lot of boys out there running around with their pants falling down–no more!
To thank you for all your kind words and links I thought I’d giveaway a few of the belts I made, because as you can see they are not keeping any pants up around here. The skinny plaid one and the wider wood grain belt are up for grabs (for a better picture look here). If you’d like to enter tell me a funny story about a little boy you know–a brother, a son, the crazy little boy down the street. There is always one who tried to fly from on top of the refrigerator or covered himself in crisco or skiied down the basement stairs. If you can’t think of a story, just tell me which one you’d like. And if you’d like to be entered twice you can subscribe to my blog (and tell me in your comment) or link to the belt tutorial on your blog or tweet it. Or all three if you’d like, but I’ll only love you more–just 2 entries max per person! I will pick two winners (pick a winner!) on Monday morning, February 22 CST. Good luck!

Our little boy Soren is almost 2 and there are a lot of funny stories about him but one of my favorite stories so far…when he was only 3 weeks old and I was up with him in the middle of the night I was saying very softly ‘oooo’ and he copied me. I did it again and so did he. Nobody believed me and then he kept on doing it and finally my husband and mother heard it. We all thought he was a baby genius :)
February 18th, 2010 at 10:42 am
I don’t know what is wrong with me, but I can’t think of a single funny story. so I will just say that I looooove the plaid belt.

I a only now pregnant with our first son, so I don’t really have a funny story about him per sey. Except that his dad refers to him as Marshmallow, b/c I am only 20 weeks today(and look as though I have a basket ball in my belly) and at the ultra sound he was measuring 2 1/2 weeks ahead of schedule with estimated weight of already 1 lb. My husband says he’ll be between 10 & 12lbs. You know , like a Thanksgiving turkey! :)
Oh and I already do subscribe!
Thanks:)

my son saw my dogs drinking out of the toilet bowl and decided it was a good idea! I actually managed to get a picture of him with his head in the bowl. Ick, I know, but at least it was clean!
Both belts are wonderful and would be put to good use on my tall skinny 4 1/2 year old!

My son is 20 months today (happy month day E!) and I’m due with another baby (gender?) in T-4weeks & counting but my “boy” story is about my cousin: he always climbed under the kitchen sink to sneak a dog bone as a treat. We girls (he was the only boy in the cousin bunch) though this was DISGUSTING!
Would love to win a belt for my 98% height 45% weight toddler as my sewing time will soon be taken by nursing & diaper time…
how do you do it with 3???
February 18th, 2010 at 11:34 am
Would love to see one of those cute belts around my skinny boy’s middle!
February 18th, 2010 at 11:48 am
this belt would look so cute on my two year old.

I am having a hard time coming up with a funny story about my own little boy, but I remember distinctly when my little brother went through an I’ll-only-pee-in-the backyard-phase. And he did, every time. His favorite spot was by the pepper tree, but my mom once caught him standing on top of our 6 foot tall privacy fence, peeing in a long arc into the backyard.
I can hardly wait to see what quirks my own son dreams up…:-)
I like both belts, but if I had to choose it would be the wood grain.
February 18th, 2010 at 12:01 pm
the wood grain one is great, but so is the plaid. Just today, my son warned me, with real concern in his voice, “Mama, don’t knit next to a wooden machine. You might catch on fire.” Words to live by, I tell you.
February 18th, 2010 at 12:31 pm
i like the wider wool boy belt.
funny story: well i have two boys who can’t keep their clothes on. they run around the house in just their underwear all the time. i am serious. doesn’t matter the temperature in or out of the house. as soon as they come home they strip out of their clothes. it’s hilarious. maybe if they had a cool belt to wear, they would keep their stuff on. probably not, they would just wear the belt with their undies.
February 18th, 2010 at 1:59 pm
aaaah floyd can use one! but i think i want to wear the wood one!! :)
funny stories: lots… but we (and his little sister and brother) always have a lot of fun when it is bedtime and we are making little stories to each other.
February 18th, 2010 at 2:25 pm
I love the belts – prefer plaid but the wood grain is charming.
Just the other night my 3 year old was pulling his pants down around his ankles and running around (he was walking like a penguin, duh!)….. I could sure use a belt to make sure this doesn’t happen outside of our house!!!
February 18th, 2010 at 2:26 pm
And, I just started following your blog – love it!
February 18th, 2010 at 2:30 pm
My 2 year old boy is obsessed with dress up because his older sister is. The other day she wanted to wear a tiara to the grocery store.
So did he.
We only have one tiara (they keep getting broken)
and since she asked first she got to wear it.
I told him he could wear something else from the dress up drawer, the lion costume, his robot hat, whatever.
what did he choose? a tutu.
He was so proud. I was in the bathroom and came out to him boots and coat on and pink tutu peeking out.
I didn’t have the heart to say no. you’re only 2 once!
February 18th, 2010 at 2:31 pm
Just yesterday I caught my 5 year old ready to ride down the stairs of his brothers bunk bed on his skateboard. I think they just like to make sure I’m on all the time ;)
Love these belts. I am definitely going to try to make one – hopefully some day soon!

There once was a 3 year old named Tyler. He’d rolled at 3m, crawled and climbed at 5m, walked at 7m and ran at 9m. By 3 he’d had three sets of staples, a near hanging and a few other near death experiences from his craziness and desire to move and climb. One morning he was climbing the headboard to his bunk bed (was a shelf-type headboard) and it fell over on top of him. His mom gave him the once over but he seemed ok other than not standing.
So off they went to open the gym’s daycare center, four miles away on their bike. When they got there Ty still wasn’t walking so as soon as mom checked in with someone else to cover the space they rode the other three miles or so to the doctor. Then across the street to the hospital. By then dad showed up so Ty was driven back to the doctor and then on to the Bone Dr’s office because he’d broken one of the bones in his right calf. Thankfully we were able to toss the bike in the car and all ride home together.
But the story doesn’t end there. Not three days later we were back at the bone doctor because there was no stopping Tyler from walking and he’d shredded the bottom of his cast running around outside. At one point we’d strapped a 1×2 to his cast to keep him from walking but even then he didn’t slow down much.
The Best Part: A week or so after breaking his leg he was climbing our 3 foot chain link fence again. We heard him hollering for us and found him hanging upside down on the fence with his cast stuck in it! Oh the memories!!!

Oh and I’m subscribed and shared and have a few friend’s who are making the belts.
February 18th, 2010 at 2:37 pm
My big guy would love either one…a skinny boy related funny story:
My DS is on the small side…height, weight, everything but his brilliant head lol. This was our conversation the other day after they learned about healthy eating/living in school:
DS: Mama! I need to eat more so that I can run fast.
Me: You do run fast Honey.
DS: Well, I always come in fifth or sixth in races.
Me: That’s great! You’re a little shorter than the other boys who run faster than you…they have an advantage.
DS: Oh no, Mama, I’m not short. I’m skinny. Hey, Mama?
Me: Uh Huh? (still pondering the correct response to his response)
DS: I think Jade likes me.
Me: OK. Why is that? (They’re in first grade)
DS: Well she told the girls that she liked a boy that was handsome, skinny, and always came in fifth or sixth in the races.
Heeheehee…

ohhh funny stories! My son was sitting there and his nose started running randomly. He kept wiping and wiping. Then he turned to me and said, “mom, my nose is naughty. tell it to stop being naughty” so i whispered to his nose to stop being naughty. He went on. Then I saw him hit is nose and shout, “naughty nose!” then he turned back to me, “mom, my nose is broken, it won’t listen. please tell him to listen” And I obliged. Surprisingly, his nose stopped running! Maybe noses do listen!
I love the plaid belt! Soo cute!

Yesterday when I was making my son a peanut butter and honey sandwhich, he noticed the bear-shaped honey bottle and said “…*gasp*…looks like a teeny tiny ROBOT!!” And (for a more embarrassing story) the other day I was going to the bathroom, and my son pointed to mama’s bum and said “mama bum…ROCKETSHIP!! BBBBLLLLLAST OFF (hand motions and sound effects included). Nice. Everything in our house is a Rocketship, a Robot, or, of course, a Rocketship-Robot.
February 18th, 2010 at 2:41 pm
And, my funny boy story . . .
We had taken my 2 year old to the park last summer. It was super hot outside and all the playground equipment had been baking in the sun all day. He went to sit down at the top of the slide. I told him to be careful. The slide was hot. He carefully sat down and proceeded to blow on the slide – like he does when we tell him his food is hot.
He didn’t understand it would take a lot of blowing to cool down the whole slide.
February 18th, 2010 at 2:44 pm
My 2 yr old son is always hamming it up. One of my favorite stories is one night he decided he was going to put mommy and daddy to bed and pretend to go to bed himself. He tucked us in and told us “shhh, be quiet” and then shut our door. He opened his door and then shut it. We thought he was in bed! I quietly opened our bedroom door and found that he had done the same to his door. I crept down the hallway to the living room and found him giggling to himself in our living room, sitting in the recliner, and watching cartoons.
February 18th, 2010 at 2:46 pm
I subscribed to your blog via google reader. Love the belts! I was just telling my mom about them today and that we needed to make some!;)
February 18th, 2010 at 2:46 pm
oooh i love the wood grain belt, & my little man has a very skinny waist & is forever pulling up his trousers, i’m sure i have so many funny tales rattling around in my head, but can’t think of one when i need it, so i’ll leave you with one of the many strange things my little folk come out with,
- child asked if biscuits have sellotape in them, when i replied no the response was, well how do they stick together then?
February 18th, 2010 at 2:48 pm
Both are very cute. We have a wild little three year old boy who constanlty argues with his older sister that HE is FIVE and SHE is THREE! Drives me nuts but is so cute anyways!
February 18th, 2010 at 2:50 pm
my kids make me laugh on an every day basis. the things they say, the things they do, and how they look. my middle boy, the one with a too-tiny-bum-to-hold-up-any-pants makes me laugh every day because of his plumber’s crack. i love it. but i wouldn’t be too sad to not see it every day. :)
February 18th, 2010 at 2:52 pm
I am a follower!
I love the woodgrain belt. I am excited to make some for myself.
My story is an uncle story. He had the habit of wandering away from the house. My grandma let him outside to play in the backyard and tied a clothes line string around his belt loop to keep him there. A little while later she went outside to see the pants hanging there but no boy. He was a few blocks over with only a t-shirt on.
February 18th, 2010 at 2:53 pm
When a baby boy that I know was born it was very exciting for everyone. It was the first boy in a long line of sister and girl cousins. His aunt was so excited to see him and when the mother took off the baby’s diaper to change him she asked the mother if she could see “it”, since none of them had ever seen a little baby one. So the diaper went off. Coos and “aww so cute and tiny!” resounded. Then the aunt said “Wait, what is that? What’s happening?” then the little boy peed all over her face!! It was really really funny. Oh, and I like the plaid belt the best.
February 18th, 2010 at 2:53 pm
& how great is your blog, i’ve ‘followed’ you thru blogger!
February 18th, 2010 at 2:58 pm
Our city has a splash pad with fun water toys for kids and I took my 2 year old there last summer. He was wearing denim shorts and was loving the water, running from toy to toy getting soaked! Suddenly I hear another mother chuckling and looked in my son’s direction to see his shorts around his ankles because they were water logged, but he just kept running around, soaking up all the fun :)
February 18th, 2010 at 3:04 pm
my little guy is has yet to make an appearance (i’m 27 weeks preggo) so I don’t have any funny stories yet, however I LOVE the plaid belt!

February 18th, 2010 at 3:10 pm
My son will be 3 on Monday and the ideas he is shaping and how he interprets the world is fascinating and hysterical to witness. Love those boys!
February 18th, 2010 at 3:12 pm
Love these! I want one!
February 18th, 2010 at 3:18 pm
I love both belts! My funny little guy tried to eat some of the salsa that came with our Mexican food the other night. Needless to say, that did not go over well…I wish I had had a camera for his face. =)
February 18th, 2010 at 3:34 pm
I have a little boy coming, so my future will be filled with funny boy stories! I love the wood grain belt.
February 18th, 2010 at 3:40 pm
I love the skinny plaid one.
February 18th, 2010 at 3:50 pm
Well, a few days ago my oldest found a toothbrush in the VCR..the youngest thinks it is a depository for long skinny things.
I love your belt tutorial btw..makes me feel like I might actually to be able to make SOMETHING from this amazing BOY month. And btw, its MUCH needed, because its really hard to find little boy belts and the ones you do find are so hard and pinch their little bellies…yours seem perfect!

i love those belts! thanks for giving a couple away! :)
February 18th, 2010 at 4:11 pm
I have so many funny stories with my son, but my favorite happened when I was pregnant with my daughter and my son was 2. I had horrible morning sickness so I was in the bathroom emptying my stomach like I had eaten a ten course meal, instead of toast and juice. I come out of the bathroom to find my son in the kitchen with a carton of eggs, a pile of broken eggs in front of him. He takes an egg in each hand and crashes them together saying “Crack!” at the top of his lungs. I go to grab him and the smell of raw eggs must have hit my weak, empty stomach wrong, because I threw up all over the floor. He again laughs and says “me too, blahhh” and makes vomiting noises while hunching over. Cleaning that mess was a disaster.

With three boys I have no excuse of not having funny boy stories, but I can’ think of one good one. My DH did get a chuckle the time our oldest (the resident tattle-tale) came to our bedroom to tell us that our middle boy was out of bed. He screamed from his bed, “Don’t tell them, don’t tell them!”. Not sure how he thought that was going to keep him from getting in trouble! They are always saying things that make me laugh, but most of them aren’t the kind of things you can quote…you have to be there!
February 18th, 2010 at 4:46 pm
I have a little boy who loves to “go to the airporn and see the horse statues with their eyes demon lighted.”
See if you can figure that one out? haha

My little man is constantly cracking me up..he is just at that age. He recently told his father that they couldn’t drop me off to “pick up my car” because it was “too heavy.” :) I would absolutely love the plaid one for him.
February 18th, 2010 at 5:18 pm
Your belt tutorial is awesome! We could use some belts, my son’s pants just won’t stay up.
Funny story: My son (3) is in a questioning stage. Yesterday he walked into the bathroom where my husband had just stepped out of the shower and I hear from the other room “Daddy do you have a big butt?”
February 18th, 2010 at 5:25 pm
I follow you on google reader…does that count? :)
I love love the plaid one. Very cute. My funny story is about a little boy I taught art lessons to. Right around the Presidential Inauguration, he told me how much he loved Obama. Later on, we were making a life size cut out from butcher paper and he asked me if we could make him into Obama. So we added a tie–and he became Obama. Later the little boy dropped a red marker on the cut out—and he said it was Obama after he had eaten. Cute!
February 18th, 2010 at 5:26 pm
w/ 4 boys the stories are too numerous to pick one! Ethan (boy no. 3) latest is “you didnt see me do it”…as in “i didnt do it unless you see it”. haha…to which i reply (jokingly of course) “i have eyes in the back of my head”. i just sub’d so i could be entered twice…love these belts but scared of trying the snaps. :)
February 18th, 2010 at 5:53 pm
My son has an obsession with shoes and frequently will wear mine around the house. Well, I had to go to the store and had to get out of the house right then in order to get everything done that day. Said son was wearing a pair of my heels and refused to put his own shoes on. So he wore the heels to the store. I got a lot of funny looks but I just decided that that was not one of the battles worth fighting.

When I was at church on Sunday, the little boy sitting in front of us was very squirmy; he managed to get out of his dad’s lap and started running away down the aisle. When his dad caught him, he yelled “DAMMIT!”… echoing throughout the chapel.
It made my Sunday.
I like the plaid belt more, but both are adorable!
February 18th, 2010 at 6:23 pm
Just got finished potty training so of course all the stories I can think of are related to this momentous (and it truly is) event.
I heard a noise in my kitchen upon checking it out i discovered my son swimming naked in a “wet puddle”….breath i tell myself…..”son, what are you doing”..”im swimming in water mama”…”hmmm I don’t think that’s water”…he looks down..”nope, it’s pee pee” and just keeps right on swimming.
by the way I love both belts :)
February 18th, 2010 at 6:31 pm
My son is 19 months old and he cracks us up all the time. The funniest thing he does is dance. He looks like a robot when he dances. He would look adorable in the plaid belt.

The other day my 6 year old son comes into my bedroom and says, “Mom, are these my jeans?” I look over at him and he is standing there sans shirt wearing his 4 year old sister’s slim flare jeans! They were SO tight and even had little rhinestones on the back pockets! I laughed so hard – and so did he! :)
February 18th, 2010 at 6:49 pm
This story is about my husband, so I’m not sure if it counts but I’m telling it anyway. He grew up in Queens, New York, in an apartment building. He and his older brother were about 5 and 6 years old when they decided to put on their superman halloween costumes and climb out the window onto a ledge (not a balcony or a fire escape, mind you, a *ledge*). Their mother was walking home from work and looked up to see her two little boys bravely perched on the ledge three stories off the ground. At that point I think they had the sense to scramble back inside.
I already subscribe to your blog :)

I have an almost-2-year-old, who has numerous nicknames. Two of the most used are “Trouble” and “The Destroyer”. He has proven to be completely different than my 2 girls, in good ways and very naughty ways :) A specific story? Every day is adventure, so I can’t think of a specific one. But he has recently learned to undress himself–at inopportune times, too–so a PLAID BELT would be every so helpful right about now!
THANKS!
February 18th, 2010 at 6:56 pm
I am now a blog follower as well! Thanks for the tutorial!
February 18th, 2010 at 6:59 pm
I love the plaid belt!
C is the cutest thing ever and the best was a day he was upset and wanted us all to know he was stomping around on the hardwood floor barefoot after a few mins he stopped and dad asked did that hurt your feet, c started laughing so hard he forgot why he was upset!
February 18th, 2010 at 7:00 pm
I love the ribbon one! I have a precious three year old that is ALL boy and skinny as a bean–he could definitely use a belt. The “funny” thing he is doing now is telling everyone whether or not what they are eating is healthy (and yes, this includes people waiting in line at Starbucks, shopping at the grocery, etc.)
February 18th, 2010 at 7:24 pm
My son will be 7 in March. My 2 daughters are 3 and 20 months.
Last night DS put my tank around DD2′s neck and said it was her cape. They all ran around with capes on ’til dinner.
Just now he tied her arms and brought her to me saying “I’m Batman and I caught Joker!” And DD1 brings me her cape telling DS she’s going to be “Batman Girl.”

Ah, love the belts! My boy is just getting old enough to wear real boy clothes, so I’m eyeing these!
February 18th, 2010 at 8:34 pm
funny stories…so many to think of! the funniest thing our four year old does now is dance around the room to oldies music and call it rock star music, his dancing looks the same has his “kung fu panda” moves though…pretty funny! i’d love a belt i am so excited!
February 18th, 2010 at 8:35 pm
I was taking pictures of my son in the backyard. I clicked the camera and got a great shot of him with a really cute ornery looking smile on his face. Soon I realized that he had stuck a tiny pinecone in his mouth…he smiled like that because he thought he was getting away with something!!

I would love any belt!!!

A few years ago, when my cousin’s son was really small he was obsessed with the movie Toy Story. He had t-shirts, figurines, etc., etc. He also had a Woody doll that he carried with him everywhere. Apparently while they were out and about one day he lost it. He was so sad, they looked everywhere for that silly thing. Luckily, finally they found it. He had left it at the store where she worked, a local, small-town drug store. He was so ecstatic that he held up the doll throughout the entire store shouting, “LOOK EVERYBODY, I GOT MY WOODY BACK!!”
Love the belt tutorial. Thank you for sharing and for the great giveaway.
February 18th, 2010 at 9:08 pm
Oh I just love that plaid one! My little boy (18mo) loves to dress up and his favorite thing is to carry a purse around and talk on “his” cell phone. Not sure what this says about me as a role model…

February 18th, 2010 at 9:21 pm
My little mans pants are always falling off! He was pre-mature so he is skinny but VERY tall like my husband. He is always running around and will try to pull up his pants and if he cant get them to stay up then he will just take them off!
I love the wood grain belt!

I have toddler twin boys, they are quite slender and many of their pants fall down, anyways one boys was squatting one day playing and his little bum has sticking out, when he stood up his twin brother came over and pulled the back of his pants up for him and asked “is that ok?” Sooo sweet. We would love both blets because one just wont do!

so to win 2 belts I am entering 2 times so you get to hear another twin story.
I hear a big crash during nap time and went to see what happened, when I wlalked in to see the humidifier crushed on the floor and water everywhere they both said “ya ya did it” ya ya is their term of endeament for one another.

On the first day of school years ago, my grandmother nearly dropped her teeth when she saw my uncle (her son) come out of the washroom. He had cut up all his new school clothes and died himself green with food coloring, jello in the bathtub touched up with marker. He was the incredible Craig!

My funny stories right now are actually more sweetness than wackiness. We’re expecting boy #4 in a couple weeks. My oldest (5) has been trying to be a big helper and he says to me, “mamma, it’s going to be a lot of work for me to take care of my brothers (3 y/o twin crazies) and the baby, right? but, i really can’t change the diapers.” my response: “well how about i change the diapers, and you take care of the rest.” “ok,” he says. sweet pea.
February 18th, 2010 at 9:59 pm
and either would work for me… and already a subscriber. thanks!

I don’t really have a funny story, but I just wanted to share about my sweet little Owen. He is almost 4 and has a vivid imagination that he expresses through building things. He has Lincoln Logs, Duplo Legos, even some “tiny” legos (as we call them), and classic wooden blocks. He is incredible at looking at something and then building it out of Legos – somewhat akin to finding just the right piece to a puzzle. Today while I was sewing a 90 minute shirt from the MADE blog, he quickly built a sewing machine from his duplos and brought it over to the table to “sew with mom.” My heart about melted on the spot.
Boys are a blast… but alas mine are tall and skinny and could certainly use an adorably fashionable belt to keep their britches from peeking out ;).
February 18th, 2010 at 10:29 pm
finn, my four year old said this when he was about 3 1/2:
“i won’t eat my dinner!!”
we ask why?
“because it’s genetically modified!”
February 18th, 2010 at 11:11 pm
Looove the plaid one!
When we were tiny my brother picked up a giant potato bug and ate half of it. My mom scraped the rest out of his mouth. She couldn’t kiss him for a month after that!!
February 18th, 2010 at 11:16 pm
Terrific belt!
My 3 year old won’t keep his pants up and refuses to wear underwear..uh oh. Help…we need a belt!
February 19th, 2010 at 12:13 am
One day when my dad was a little boy, about 3 or 4 years old, my grandma couldn’t find him anywhere. Soon after she had made this discovery and was beginning to panic she got a phone call. It was the lady who owned the soda fountain down the street a few blocks saying that my dad had just climbed up on a stool and ordered an ice cream soda…
February 19th, 2010 at 1:16 am
I have 4 little boys but my 3 year old skinniest boy (the one who needs a belt) ran out of my room the other day doing a little dance with my bra on saying “Me a Mommy, me a mommmy.” I was the only one home but I thought it was funny.
February 19th, 2010 at 1:24 am
My sister was rushing her 5 kids to church, desperately trying to get everyone out the doors, when she discovered her 3 year-old boy had changed from his dress clothes to play clothes. Already running late, she let it slide, and off they went. Much to her dismay, once they arrived he revealed that underneath the play clothes was his 4 year-old sister’s pink swimsuit, complete with ruffle! That nephew is now 15, but we still haven’t let him live it down. P.S. I subscribed yesterday once I fell in love with the belts. Does that count?
February 19th, 2010 at 4:00 am
Thanks for the great tutorial, I’ll be making some of these for my sons soon. BUT if I could win one of the two made ones already, it would brighten one of them instantly as his brother’s hand-me-down pants are slightly to big in the waist for him . . . and will save him from any further embarrassing moments when he decides that wearing underwear is not for him. . .
February 19th, 2010 at 5:56 am
So cute. I wish I was able to make one of those amazing belts, just don’t have the cash for the supplies at the moment.
The other week, my 2yo son was in hospital after having a seziure. He was so sleepy. Anyway, we had to go in for a chest xray and after the light flashed, everything was fine! He started jumping around and being silly. Next time he’s sick I’ll remember to flash a light in his face lol
February 19th, 2010 at 6:43 am
I don’t think I can top some of these stories…. I have 2 boys (and a girl) and at this late hour nothing is coming to mind. BTW I love the woodgrain belt.
February 19th, 2010 at 6:43 am
Wow! Thanks for having a giveaway! (I just discovered you via Dana…) Love your blog.
February 19th, 2010 at 7:42 am
♥ these belts but they probably won’t fit my “not so little boy” any longer… he’s moved on to wanting to put “Pants on the Ground” on his iPod and getting ready to need a belt everyday next year in middle school (time flies). Funny story, he just returned from his 3-day 5th grade field trip to the coast and wore the same clothes the whole time! Well, he did change his socks… such-a-boy! Just wanted to let you know I love your belts and the tutorial… thinking maybe I can make bigger ones for my son. And I subbed to your blog so I won’t miss any other wonderful things!
February 19th, 2010 at 8:10 am
When my sons were in utero my cat used to sleep next to my belly and when she purred my little guys would move around in response to her deep, lulling sounds!
I think the plaid belt would be great for any season, on winter jeans or summer shorts! ~H
February 19th, 2010 at 8:32 am
We don’t have a whole lots of stories yet since Jude is only 8 months, but he does love to try to eat the cat, which is fairly humorous! Love the belts and plan on making some soon!
Both belts are super cute!
February 19th, 2010 at 8:33 am
And I’ve added your belt tutorial to my free sewing patterns page on my blog!

The first time we left my son (who is now 3) with a babysitter he gave her quite a surprise. They were eating dinner and he got down from the table and went into his room. He returned naked as a jaybird! Smirking to no end and prancing around!! The startled babysitter kept her composure, which she later revealed it was very hard for her! Then preceded to tell him, “nude little boys don’t get ice cream.” So he ran back into his room just as fast as he came out and got his clothes back on! We forgot to inform the babysitter of his “o’ natural” personality!
My son is built like a beanstalk and since his pants never stay up-he just takes them off!
February 19th, 2010 at 8:49 am
A few weeks ago, my 6 month old son discovered the low range in his voice. For several days, pretty much his only form of communication with us was a wide open mouth super low growl. It was especially funny when he did it during church. Oops!
February 19th, 2010 at 8:53 am
when my oldest sone was 2 i looked at his hair and said ” ezra you need a haircut you have a rat tail” he looked at me with a confused expression and said ” mom me don’t have a rat tail, me have a wienie!” in front of the whole family reunion too! it was the funniest thing i have heard to date…
February 19th, 2010 at 9:14 am
There are too many funny stories to narrow it down, but I REALLY just need one of those belts. I have 2 boys 4 & 2 who only weigh 2 lbs different. My poor 4 year old is so stinkin’ skinny he needs the waist size of 18 month pants, but the length of 3T, and I can’t find any belts small enough for him. (I’d love to make one, but I’m a total craft/sewing moron.) Needless to say we have a loosing the pants incident at least once or twice a day. Please, please, please, I wanna win!
PS. I subscribed to your blog. I love that you do stuff for boys!
February 19th, 2010 at 11:24 am
I’d love the plaid belt! My funny story involves my brother and I. We wanted to make breakfast in bed for my parents when we were little, but all we knew how to make was Kool-aid. My brother said he did, anyway. We used salt instead of sugar and spilled half of it all over the kitchen floor, so my parents got a big gross glass of salt water and a mess in the kitchen.
February 19th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
finally finally finally! i cannot wait to make these for my boys! i have been in need of some good belts and nothing at the store ever works, specially when you have boys that all the sudden have to go RIGHT then. the mad dash to the bathroom, and having to fumble with belt w/a buckle? forget it! another pair of jeans and underwear later….great tutorial!! thanks annielaurie
February 19th, 2010 at 12:12 pm
My son does a lot of crazy, funny things, and some things that aren’t so funny. One time his sister was pushing him around the house in his gigantic dumptruck and without thinking pushed him right down the stairs. He went flying down a full flight of stairs in the back of his metal dumptruck and…survived without a scratch or bruise. It was a complete miracle. He definitely has angels looking out for him.
February 19th, 2010 at 12:37 pm
My Zach is 2.5 and amazes us every day…usually in a good way! Hearing him sing right now is a riot, since he only knows a few words of any song, and since he sings with such enthusiasm.
Love the wood grain belt. Too cute!
February 19th, 2010 at 3:35 pm
What a darling belt! I love it! My little boy would love it too- his pants fall down a lot!
My funny story is about my nephew. He was watching Grandma put on her makeup in the morning, and he asked, “Grandma, why are you putting that on your face?” She said, “I put this on so I look younger.” He watched for another second and said, “I don’t think it’s working.”
February 19th, 2010 at 3:35 pm
I linked to this wonderful giveaway on my blog!
February 19th, 2010 at 3:55 pm
I love these and have to get one/make one soon because my son’s current belt is too small for him know. He would LOVE one of these.
February 19th, 2010 at 3:58 pm
I should probably tell you about my son, but my brother takes the cake. When he was little, say about 4, he sawed, yes sawed, the leg off a coffee table. Not sure where the grownups were!
February 19th, 2010 at 4:09 pm
love the plaid!
my brother once rode his bike down the steepest hill in our neighborhood, without using his brakes. this, of course, was on my recommendation as his older sister.
he ended up breaking his arm. poor kid.

One day my 2 year old son was eating something he dubbed tasty. I said to him “Do you know what else is Tasty? Your baby sister.” and then pretended to eat her belly. He looked at me very seriously and said “Mommy, people are yucky, that is why we do not eat people.” He is always saying thing that make me smile but that very logical conclusion that he came to always makes me grin. He would look so cute in the plaid belt, he loves accessorizing. oh, & I definately subscribed to the blog I look forward to reading many more of your creative ideas.
February 19th, 2010 at 4:47 pm
My 2yr old son J is hilarious. The other day when I picked him up from daycare we had the following conversation:
Me: Did you have a good day?
J: Yes, I’m happy
Me: Why are you happy?
J: Because, because, because I not sad.
Very good reason to be happy I would say.
I would love the plaid belt. J is one of those tall skinny ones who finally fits the waist of his 12-18 month pants while almost needing the length of a 3T.
February 19th, 2010 at 5:14 pm
Our 4 year old son got upset one day because me and our other 2 kids(5 and 2) were playing playdoh, and he wanted us to watch him do a puzzle. So he went in his room and packed 2 pairs of underwear and his leapster and said he was running away, to find a new family. It was so funny, the 5 year old gave him a hug and asked him when he was coming back, and he said “probably Thursday.”
love the woodgrain belt – and I already subscribe – do I still get 2 entries? :)
February 19th, 2010 at 7:37 pm
my son is the sweetest boy i know (of course) but he has a smile and laugh only a mother could love! he laughs like a machine gun and smiles all squinty with full mouth of teeth…hard to explain, hilarious to see! he put himself down for a nap today and i found him with his legs crossed and sleeping with a book on him…my 2 year old “read” himself to sleep today. he is a jem! and he would wear your belt, whichever, very well indeed. Thanks for a chance.

Once my sister was staying the night at our house. She got in town after my 2 year old buy was asleep. She slept on the couch in the living room. When my son mande his nightly 3 am walk into my bed, she spied my sister on the couch. Thinking it was me, he got on the couch with her and fell asleep. About 6am he walked into my bedroom and kepting saying ’2 mommys’ I couldn’t figure out what he meant until I went into the living room where my sister was still sleeping. He pointed at her and then at me and said “2 mommys’. He thought he was sleeping by me on the couch and then I was in the bedroom too. He still talks about it!

I do not have any boys myself (just girls), but we do know quite a few. There is one boy that has trouble keeping up any pair of pants. ANY. AT ALL.
Whenever I see that little moon shining at me, whether he is on the monkey bars or running in a field, I refer to it as Griffin’s patented buttcrack. He could benefit from one of your adorable belts!
Thanks for the chance to win (for the sake of a little boy’s behind).
February 19th, 2010 at 9:50 pm
Hi Meg,
These belts are awesome. I subscribed to your blog too although I check in frequently enough since I love your posts.
Funny story about my boy? He’s almost 4 and a CUTIE pie. I always say to him – please don’t grow up too fast since I love you being small. He says, but mommy, I need to grow up fast so I can drive a car. Yikes! I’m in trouble.
February 20th, 2010 at 12:35 pm
As we were driving to my middle boy’s playdate with, of all things, a GIRL, he said, “Mom?”
“Yeah, bud?”
He said somewhat bashfully, “sometimes I like to play with girl toys.” He ducks his head down.
“That’s alright. Some girl’s toys are pretty neat.”
“Yeah,” he perked up a bit, “they are!”
“Anyway, it’s not a big deal…your dad used to play ‘Barbies’ with his big sisters!”
I’d love to get either one- they’re both great
CELEBRATE THE BOY!

What a great belt. I have a almost 4 yo who would just love this! Thanks for the tutorial too!

Boys are so much fun (says the mom with two of them).
One of my favorite moments with my eldest happened when we were watching White Christmas. He was 2 at the time. I don’t know how familiar you are with the movie, but when the Hanes Sisters come on and sing “Sisters,” my son wanted to know what they were doing and what their fans were made out of. I told him they were dancing and singing with fans made out of feathers. He announced: “No, Mommy; you’re wrong. They’re pretending to be ducks.” Nothing I said would convince him otherwise. Imagine his excitement when Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby came out and sang the same song with the same fans: “Look, Mommy! Now the boys are pretending to be ducks too!”
I love the creativity of children!

Well, just a few minutes ago, I happened on your site through a network of links that took me to your half eaten gingerbread man decoration (LOVE that!) a couple years back, and subscribed right away. Now I’m browsing your current posts and saw the boy belt giveaway — just what I need for my oh-so-skinny 3 year old. So, a funny story from this morning’s mayhem: I left my boys with hubby so I could go shopping this morning. Came back to find my oldest (the aforementioned skinny lad) with a metal mest trash can on his head, fully convinced it made him completely invisible. That pushed us into a full hour of hide and seek with my invisible boy. Needless to say, he won (=

At my friend’s baby shower she had her shirt pulled up talking about her belly button popping out when a little 3 year old boy comes up to her, points to her belly button, and asks if that is her baby’s penis. This was ‘in the middle’ of the party. Classic.

I love these belts, especially the wood grain one. I have 3 little nephews who are SO skinny that they literally RUN out of their pants. They are constantly on the go and my poor sister is run ragged by them.

My little nephew has the most sensitive nose I have ever seen, He can smell peas cooking from upstairs and know what they are. If he gets just the slightest whiff of orange, he puts his head down and puts the back of his hand over his nose. (Is he trying to say that he doesn’t like oranges? ;-)

the belts you made are adorable!! I’d love to win one for my guy.
My story is about my brother and his best friend, there was this really bad storm and we were getting ready to go to my aunt’s house to ride it out (we didn’t have a basement & tornadoes were being seen) I was sitting in the truck waiting and my brother & his friend were acting all tough, yelling at the sky, when the lighting hit & all you could see was a huge funnel cloud, they screamed and ran the heck away so darn fast!! It was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen!

I subscribed, but it’s my first time doing the Google reader thing and I can’t figure out how to comment!
I love these belts and could really use them for my skinny little boy.
My funny story is about my little brother. We were on camping vacation one summer when he was about 3. Eating in a pub on a rainy evening, he noticed that there was a fly in my Dad’s beer. He thought it was absolutely hilarious and jumped out of his chair dancing around the table yelling and laughing “There’s a fly in my dad’s drink! There’s a fly in my dad’s drink!” Everyone in the restaurant was laughing and this just encouraged him to continue. I can still picture his adorable little face.

Earlier this week I was busy taking care of my 2 year old son and I forgot to finish my coffee. A few hours later I handed him a popsicle, and got to work on the stack of dirty dishes.
A few minutes later he brought me the now empty coffee cup, held it up for a refill, and told me that it was “mmmmmm”
He spent the next several hours running around in circles screaming “Bonk! Bonk! Bonk!”
February 21st, 2010 at 3:48 pm
I love the wood grain one!
My little 2 year thinks he can grow by closing his eyes tightly and shaking his little body. I’m always telling him to stop growing and then he laughs and does his little shake. He’s really skinny and the belt would help his cause!
February 21st, 2010 at 4:03 pm
Thanks so much for the tutorial- I love the plad one:)
My story is about my brother – he would have a trip to the abulance or hospital EVERY school holidays – I remember one Christmas holidays Mum sent him for a shower and he yelled out and Mum went running in – he said while holding his chin with blood everywhere that he thought that he had blood! Really – he had soaped up the entire bathtub and slipped on the tiled step.
Oh and I was sitting here thinking that my little man has not done anything yet (2years) and then remembered the walls, floor and bed that he painted last week with poo. My little artist must be going to take after said brother (as he did it too) Must watch that one:)

Cheers

My little boy loves to ride on the train with me in the mornings. I have been teaching him to sit squarely on the plastic seats and not sprawl all over the empty seats by telling him ‘One little bumbum on one little seat’. Last week, it was much more crowded in the train than usual, and there was a plump lady sitting opposite us. My little lad looked at her and said in his crystal clear voice ‘Look Mummy, that lady has TWO bumbums so she needs TWO seats!’
